Construction Resources:Construction Operation & Parking and Home Electrification GuidesAre you planning or already working on a home construction project? Take time to review these two resources from the Town: 1) Construction Operation and Parking Guide: For demolition, construction of new buildings or structures, and projects involving additions or remodels that impact 50% or more of the existing square footage, or projects determined by the Building Official, are required to submit a Construction Operations and Parking Plan. Click the photo below to read more about what the plans entail. 2) Home Electrification: If your remodel provides the opportunity to switch from gas to electric appliances, check out Peninsula Clean Energy's incentives from rebates and financing to technical assistance to make ease the process of electrification. Two Upcoming Disaster Preparedness Events1) Stop the Bleed: Menlo Park CERT’s Stop the Bleed program, which provides emergency first aid training. It will be held from 6-7pm on August 21st at the Menlo Park Fire Station at 300 Middlefield Road. Please register here: https://www.menlofirecert.com/event-5254917/Registration. 2) County’s 19th annual Disaster Preparedness Day: Free and family-friendly way to learn safety tips, CPR, first aid and more. The event is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5 at the San Mateo County Event Center, 1346 Saratoga Drive, San Mateo. Did we mention free hot dogs, too, while supplies last? And free parking? Shellfish Advisory for San Mateo CountyThe California Department of Public Health warns of a potentially deadly toxin in sport-harvested mussels, clams and scallops in San Mateo County. Cooking won't destroy the toxin. They are not safe to eat. The warning does not apply to commercially sold shellfish. Learn more here.

Did you know? The County offers an annual Civics 101 Academy. This is a chance to learn about all that your County government does, and to hear from (and ask questions of) leaders from most departments, as well as Board of Supervisors president Dave Pine and County Executive Mike Callagy. Participants learn about the County’s social services and health system; ongoing initiatives like sustainability and equity; the elements of the justice system; emergency management; boards and commissions; budget and finance; library programs and much more. Civics 101 will be held on nine consecutive Wednesday evenings, starting Aug. 30 and finishing Oct. 25. Sessions meet from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Questions?
