The Town of Atherton turns 100 on September 12, 2023. Read more about Centennial events here. Leading up to those celebrations, each week in the Atherton Online, we are featuring icons, places, and historical moments that have made this Town the vibrant community that it is today.

This week, we are sharing the legacy of Atherton's daughters - Alejandra, Isabella, Elena, and Florence. Click the image below to read the full feature.

To get in the spirit of the Centennial, there are mini flags available to the first 50 community members who request them at Town Center. Foster a Pet with the Peninsula Humane Society

Meet Spark, Pip, and Squeak! The new furry mascots of the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA Foster Care Program! This program relies on individuals or families who volunteer to offer temporary care for shelter companion animals in their homes. Foster volunteers help shelter animals get ready for adoption.  The pets may need to recover from an illness or injury, work on specific behaviors, or just relax in a home setting while we work on finding their forever home.  Currently, they are seeking volunteers to foster dogs, kittens, guinea pigs, and rabbits. Volunteers must be 18 years old or older to foster animals.

For more information on becoming a foster, please visit https://phs-spca.org/volunteer/foster/.

The Humane Society is one of the Town's many partners which you can learn about here.

Participate in the Center for Age Friendly Excellence's Focus Groups

Last month, we shared about our new Center for Age-Friendly Excellence Standing Committee. They've been hard at work shaping a plan for an age-friendly Atherton. Before they get too far along in planning, they'd like to hear from residents who are 55 and older or their family members who can share their perspectives.
