Two Ways to Celebration Atherton's Centennial

On behalf of the Town of Atherton’s Centennial Committee, the Town is inviting all residents to two September events honoring 100 years of Atherton:

  1. Tuesday, September 12 at 6:00 PM: The Town’s actual 100th birthday! The Council will have a Special Council Meeting with remarks from the Mayor, birthday cake, a champagne toast, and a screening of a 10 minute long 100-year history video.
  2. Sunday, September 24 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM:  The community event of the century! The Centennial Celebration includes interactive history booths hosted by volunteers, a tree giveaway competition, a performance from the Menlo-Atherton High School Jazz Band, catered food, and a parking shuttle from Holbrook Palmer Park. Starting at 2:00 PM, Congresswoman Eshoo will make a presentation on the library deck followed by Senator Becker and Supervisor Mueller.

Creek Maintenance

In preparation for the rainy season, the Town will be doing maintenance on the Atherton Creek starting the week of September 11. This is part of our ongoing efforts to keep our creek healthy and prevent flooding.

We kindly ask you to do your part by clearing tree limbs and other debris that have fallen from your property into the Creek. According to the Atherton Municipal Code Section 8.50.20, it is your responsibility to maintain the watercourse through your property free of trash, excessive vegetation, debris and other obstacles which would pollute, contaminate, or retard the flow of water through the watercourse.

Please remove any obstructions that could impede the flow of water or cause damage to the creek ecosystem.

Did you know?


The compost pile has been replenished at Holbrook-Palmer Park. This is self-service, just bring gloves, a shovel, and bags to come collect. The compost pile is located to the right of the Carriage House next to the green waste bin.
