Annual Tree Lighting Event on December 7

The Town of Atherton, in collaboration with the Atherton Library and Friends of the Atherton Library, are thrilled to welcome Santa to the Town Center for our Annual Tree Lighting event on December 7 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. 

Join your neighbors for a delightful family-friendly evening filled with photo opportunities with Santa Claus, warm beverages, fun holiday activities, and watch in wonder as our library deck tree is illuminated. Please bring your own camera to capture a memory with Santa. 


Bring Joy to a Local Child this Holiday Season

It's that time of the year! The Atherton PAL and Atherton Police Officers Association are hosting their annual toy drive to serve the Adelante Selby Lane School! Please leave an unwrapped toy at one of our drop off locations—Atherton Police/Town Hall or the Menlo Circus Club. Requested gifts include:

  • Legos
  • Bicycles
  • Science geared projects
  • Dolls
  • Craft projects
  • Sports items
  • Puzzles and books

We kindly request all donations to be brought in by December 20, 2023. Please email any questions to Jennifer Frew, PAL Coordinator, jfrew@ci.atherton.ca.us

ADAPT Meets This Saturday, December 2

This month, ADAPT's community meeting is focused on disaster preparedness and support where certain populations are concerned including children, pets, more senior members of our community, and individuals with special needs. Rather than having someone talk at you, ADAPT members will be facilitating small group discussions to generate ideas on these subjects, and then will compare the group's ideas to what the pros say.

Since it's their last meeting of the year, they will also take some time to look back on this year's accomplishments and invite thoughts on their priorities heading into 2024.

With respiratory viruses circulating, all Bay Area Health Officers recommend actions to stay healthy for the holidays. 

"Staying up to date with vaccinations for COVID-19, flu and RSV is the most effective tool for protection. Stay home if unwell, consider testing before gatherings and seek prompt treatment if needed," said Dr. Kismet Baldwin-Santana, health officer of San Mateo County Health.
