If you maintain an alarm at your residence, an alarm permit is required. The permit is required irrespective of whether your alarm is monitored by the Police Department or via a third-party vendor. If this is your first time registering your alarm system, the fee is $100. Annually thereafter, the fee is $50. For details, refer to the Town's Alarm Systems Ordinance 8.04.

- Atherton Municipal Code - Chapter 8.04

Our alarm permit program is designed to enhance public safety and ensure efficient emergency response. The permit requirement helps us maintain accurate records of alarm systems in our community and allows officers to respond more effectively to emergency calls while also reducing unnecessary dispatches caused by false alarms.

The fee associated with your alarm permit helps cover administrative costs and supports our ongoing efforts to improve public safety services. Maintaining an active permit ensures compliance with city regulations and helps us provide the highest level of service to our residents.

If you have any questions about your invoice, the alarm permit program, or how to prevent false alarms, please do not hesitate to contact our Dispatch Center at 650-688-6500. We appreciate your cooperation and commitment to keeping our community safe. You can find a copy of the Alarm Invoice and the associated Resident Information Form via the link below.
