Catch a good book and join the library April 7 for Library Night with the SF Giants! New Giants-themed library cards are available at the library. Learn more at smcl.org/sfgiants

Waste Wise Annual Event 

Come to drop-off your outdated printer or fax machine, shred those 1995 bank statements and collect compost to get ready for your summer garden at Atherton's annual Waste Wise event.  At the 2024 even there were 172 cards, 1.62 tons of e-waste collected and 3.46 tons of paper shredded. Lets double those numbers in 2025!

When: Saturday, April 12 at 10:00 AM 

Where: 150 Watkins, Holbrook-Palmer Park

Open to Atherton residents, proof of residency is required.

ADU Resource Center 


Feasibility & Help Line ADU Services 

In April 2025, the ADU Resource Center will begin providing two new services, in partnership with Hello Housing, offering free ADU consultations to homeowners. These services will be available to homeowners living in the ADU Resource Center’s member jurisdictions. 

Homeowners can seek out these services when appropriate. To learn more contact the ADU Resource Center by email anna@smcadu.org. 

ADU Fair

The Center will be hosting an ADU Homeowner Fair on Saturday, May 10 from 10am to 12pm. The event will feature resources from ADU vendors, informational sessions and ADU tours. We’d love to have jurisdiction staff participate to connect with homeowners and vendors. If you’re interested in participating, please reach out.

Earth Month Clean-Up

 

Celebrate Earth Day this year by pitching in to clean up trails and the beach.

• April 19, 9 a.m. to noon at Coyote Point Recreation Area in San Mateo. Pick up trash to help maintain the park’s beauty and protect shorebird habitat. Learn more and register.

• April 26, 9 a.m. to noon at Don Horsley County Park at Tunitas Creek Beach south of Half Moon Bay. Get a preview of San Mateo County’s newest park expected to open this summer. Learn more and register.

• Volunteers should wear clothes and shoes they don’t mind getting dirty, dress in layers and bring a personal water bottle. Equipment will be provided. Both events require registration.

• Volunteers under 18 much be registered by a parent or guardian. Youth under 15 must be accompanied by an adult.




Did You Know?


The Town of Atherton sends out an annual notice for residents to renew their alarm permits.

If you maintain an alarm at your residence, an alarm permit is required. The permit is required irrespective of whether your alarm is monitored by the Police Department or via a third-party vendor. If this is your first time registering your alarm system, the fee is $100. Annually thereafter, the fee is $50. For details, refer to the Town's Alarm Systems Ordinance 8.04.
