This meeting is being held via teleconference pursuant to Government Code section 54953(e)(1)(B) and in compliance with the Brown Act.  Section 54953(e)(1)(B) permits the Town to hold a meeting during a proclaimed state of emergency via teleconference in order to determine whether as a result of the emergency meeting in person would present an imminent risk to attendees' health or safety.

4.         REGULAR AGENDA 

4a.       Transportation Development Act (TDA) Article 3 Grant Application – Alameda de las Pulgas/Stockbridge Avenue Pedestrian Crossing Improvements

This item involves the discussion of the proposed grant application to San Mateo County C/CAG for funding of pedestrian crossing improvements at the Alameda de las Pulgas/ Stockbridge Avenue intersection. The proposed project would include the installation of a ladder crosswalk, rectangular rapid flashing beacon, pedestrian activated led advance warning signs, and associated improvements. The proposed crossing would a joint project with the County of San Mateo and would be located on the north leg where San Mateo County recently upgraded the access ramps. The Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee may act to recommend an application to San Mateo County C/CAG for the TDA Article 3 grant.

4b.       Presentation – Menlo Park Speed Limit Reductions in School Zones

City of Menlo Park

The City of Menlo Park will provide a presentation on their recently initiated project to reduce speed limits in school zones. This is not an action item. 

 

4c.       Information – AB43 – Traffic Safety

R. Ovadia

Staff will provide an update regarding recent legislation revising the California Vehicle Code granting the California Department of Transportation and local authorities additional flexibility in setting speed limits. The legislation will allow, after June 30, 2024, jurisdictions to reduce prima facia speed limits by an additional five miles per hour under certain conditions. Caltrans has been directed to update the California Manual of Uniform Traffic Devices to outline the conditions and requirements for such additional reduction. This is not an action item.
