The Town of Atherton is looking to fill a vacant seat on the Planning Commission with a term expiration of June 30, 2026. The City Council will evaluate applicants until an appointment is made.
What Does the Planning Commission Do?
The Commission reviews land use proposals, advises on zoning and development standards, and helps guide long-term planning decisions. Members play a vital role in shaping policies that affect housing, sustainability, and the built environment.
Who Should Apply?
We welcome applicants who:
- Reside in the Town of Atherton
- Have experience or interest in architecture, land use, sustainability, or public service. This is not required but helpful.
- Value transparency, collaboration, and community engagement
Term & Commitment
- The vacant seat will fill the remainder of an unexpired term - June 30, 2026
- Meetings are typically held monthly on the 4th Wednesday of each month at 6 PM.
- Commissioners serve as volunteers and are appointed by the City Council
