On April 23rd, at approximately 8:22 p.m., police officers responded to a call of an interrupted residential burglary on the 100 block of Patricia Drive in Atherton. The suspects smashed a rear window, entered the residence, and were confronted by the homeowner, who was home at the time. The homeowner chased the suspects off the property, who fled in a waiting vehicle. The suspect vehicle is described as a smaller, dark colored SUV. There was no loss.
This incident is under investigation, and no other information is currently available. If you live around Patricia Drive, please check your surveillance video between 8:00 p.m. and 8:25 p.m., and report any possible leads to the Atherton Police Department at (650) 688-6500.

Keep all doors and windows locked, even when you are home.
When you are not home, make it appear that someone is home by keeping the lights on, installing lights on timers, or leaving on the TV or radio.
Install exterior lighting.
Keep valuables out of your primary bedroom, as this area is a common target of burglars.
Keep valuables well-hidden, and consider using a safe bolted to the floor or wall.
