Dear Residents,
I want to take a moment to address possible concerns regarding immigration enforcement and the role of the Atherton Department of Police. As your Chief of Police, my top priority is ensuring the safety and well-being of all members of this community, regardless of their background or immigration status. Our officers are here to serve and protect everyone.
In accordance with State law, the enforcement of federal immigration laws is the responsibility of the Federal Government through federal agencies such as U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The focus of the Atherton Department of Police remains on ensuring the safety and well-being of all members of this community, building trust, preventing crime, and fostering a safe environment for all.
We strongly encourage all members of this community to report crimes, seek assistance, and cooperate with law enforcement without fear of immigration consequences.
Community trust is essential to effective policing, and we are committed to maintaining that trust through fairness, professionalism, and respect for all individuals.

Quiero tomar un momenta para abordar posibles inquietudes sobre la aplicaci6n de las leyes de inmigraci6n y el papel del Departamento de Policfa de Atherton. Como su Jefe de Policfa, mi maxima prioridad es garantizar la seguridad y el bienestar de todos los miembros de esta comunidad, sin importar su origen o estatus migratorio. Nuestros oficiales estan aquf para servir y proteger a todos.
De acuerdo con la ley estatal, la aplicaci6n de las leyes federales de inmigraci6n es responsabilidad del Gobierno Federal a traves de agencias como el Servicio de lnmigraci6n y Control de Aduanas de los EE. UU. (ICE). El enfoque del Departamento de Policfa de Atherton sigue siendo garantizar la seguridad y el bienestar de todos los miembros de esta comunidad, generar confianza, prevenir el crimen y fomentar un entorno seguro para todos.
Alentamos firmemente a todos los miembros de esta comunidad a reportar delitos, buscar ayuda y cooperar con las autoridades sin temor a consecuencias migratorias. La confianza de la comunidad es esencial para una labor policial efectiva, y estamos comprometidos a mantener esa confianza a traves de la equidad, el profesionalismo y el respeto por todas las personas.
