Town of Atherton Residents Express Strong Satisfaction in 2025 Community Survey

Atherton, CA — June 5, 2025 — The Town of Atherton is pleased to announce the results of its 2025 Community Survey, conducted by Probolsky Research. The survey reveals that an overwhelming majority of residents are highly satisfied with the quality of life in the Town and the municipal services provided by the Town. 

Key Findings:

  • Quality of Life: An impressive 98% of respondents rated the overall quality of life in Atherton as “good” or “excellent.”

  • Municipal Services: 91% of residents expressed satisfaction with the overall services provided by the Town. 

  • Public Safety: 93% of participants reported satisfaction with the police services, underscoring the community’s confidence in local law enforcement.

The survey, conducted from April 7 to April 29, 2025, gathered responses from 424 residents through mail, online, and telephone methods. The diverse participation ensures a comprehensive understanding of community sentiments. 

Residents identified public safety, addressing housing affordability, and transportation/traffic/roads as the most pressing issues facing Atherton today. The Town is committed to addressing these concerns through strategic planning and community engagement. 

Other Findings:

  • News and Information: The majority of residents get their news about the Town from print media, word of mouth and the Town's website

  • Most important Town Services: Residents feel that the most important Town services are public safety, streets and traffic, land use management, and drainage maintenance. 

  • Level of Trust: Residents expressed a high level of overall trust in the Town.

  • Interaction with Staff: Of those that interacted with staff, 95% rated the interaction os positive.

Feedback from residents is encouraging and affirms the Town's dedication to maintaining the high standards that make Atherton a desirable place to live. The City Council works diligently to address the community's concerns and enhance the qualify of life for all residents. 

Next Steps:

The City Council and staff will utilize the survey insights to inform policy decisions, prioritize projects, and allocate resources effectively. Ongoing community engagement will remain a cornerstone of Atherton’s approach to governance. The Town hopes to use the survey as a starting point for a regular check in with the community every few years.
