a. Speed Feedback Signs – Various locations This item involves the discussion of future speed feedback sign locations as recommended by the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee. The Town’s Capital Improvement Program over the last few years included funding for the installation of speed feedback signs on various streets as recommended by the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) and the Transportation Committee. The Council has also approved the installation of various signs through actions on the Neighborhood Traffic Management Action Plan (NTMAP). At its January 25, 2022, meeting, the BPAC recommended that speed feedback signs be installed in the following locations: - 2 radar signs (1 in each direction) on Fair Oaks Lane between railroad tracks and Middlefield Road
- 1 radar sign (EB direction) on Oak Grove at Madrone Road
- 1 radar sign (SB direction) on Selby Lane, between Polhemus Avenue and Coghlan Lane
Per the short-term recommendations in the NTMAP, speed feedback signs would be installed in the following locations: - Short Term Phase I – Selby Lane (Oakwood – Logan), and Stockbridge Avenue (Patricia – Carolina)
- Short Term Phase II – Fair Oaks Lane (El Camino Real – Station Lane), and Camino al Lago (Fairview – Monte Vista)
The Committee may act to recommend locations for future speed feedback sign locations. b. Barry Lane Signage During the BPAC’s discussion of the speed radar signs, Barry Lane was mentioned as a potential location for speed radar signs, but the committee opted to not recommend the installation of the sign on Barry Lane. The roadway is designated as a class III bike route and is heavily used by pedestrians and bicyclists. The BPAC is requesting consideration of potential warning signage on Barry Lane, near Faxon Road, because the geometric layout of the narrow roadway provides a perception of vehicles speeding and vehicles tend to pass pedestrians and bicyclists utilizing the roadway by using the oncoming traffic travel lane. The Committee may act to recommend the installation of signage on Barry Lane. 6. STAFF REPORTS Sgt. D. Metzger Police Traffic Unit (10 minutes) a. Monthly report for January 2022 d.
